Update to the update March 12, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — aggieonboard @ 4:36 pm

So Dr. Lopez just called. He’s not at work anymore (I heard him order the salad bar) but he talked to me for about 15 minutes about our plan of action. The GI specialist is going to work with me on breastfeeding, but I’m going to need to be on a dairy free AND soy free diet. I said that was pretty difficult–not that I’ll miss soy cheese at all–and he agreed. They’re going to have me meet with a dietician next week.

I’m staying off the diet, though, until after my birthday. I’m just going to donate what I pump between now and when we get it all worked out. Actually I’m probably going to have to donate everything I’ve pumped in his life but that’s ok. There are some NICU babies at Cooks who could really use it.

I’ve been a very quiet follower (aka stalker – but don’t worry not a scary one!) of yours for a few months now, and I totally feel for your current food restrictions. I suffer from a multitude of food allergies (dairy and soy being just two). I have found soy to be one of the hardest things to avoid, they stick it in everything! Just last night I was shocked to see that a bag of frozen french fries had soy bean oil added, why??? Anywho, I wish you the best of luck and hope you are able to return to food bliss shortly. In the meantime, vanilla rice milk is pretty decent. BTW you’re little guy is adorable!!

Aw. I’m sorry for you, but I’m glad you’re finding the bright side for those poor babies.

Sorry. I’ve done a similar version of that diet for my own allergies and it sucks. But it sounds like it will be worth it if you can still breastfeed. Great idea about donating the breastmilk!
